Have you ever tried cooking lengua? Creamy Lengua in White Sauce is a great recipe to start with. Easy to prepare and very good result. It’s usually prepared on special occasions, but I say make one as you wish. You don’t have to wait to enjoy delicious food.
I usually cook it on a weekend for my family. I have found that it is best to start contacting the dining table by serving good food that everyone enjoys. Everything will follow. This creates a perfect boding experience for all family members.
Begin by preparing the cow’s tongue by tenderizing it. Wash thoroughly with running water. Boil about 6 to 8 cups of water in a pot. Add the tongue and cover the pot. Cook between low to medium medium for 1 to 1 ½ hours or until tender. The boiling time depends on the size of the oil. Thicker and bigger, the longer it takes to soften.
When the oil is softened, remove it from the pot and let cool. The outer layer of the tongue should be easier to peel off at this point. Peel off the outer layer completely and then slice the cow’s tongue into thin serving pieces.
Now that the main ingredient is ready, we can start cooking. Melt butter and saute onions until softened. Put the sliced lengua in the pot and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. It is good that the lengua is getting very soft. Do this by pouring about 2 cups of water into the pan and boiling until the liquid is reduced to half. I also added a piece of Knorr beef cube to bring-in the delicious beefy flavor to the dish.
This dish is better than mushrooms. I use a sliced mushroom button in this recipe. Add the mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes.
Let’s prepare the white sauce. Do this by pouring heavy whipping cream into the same cooking pot where the cow’s tongue is cooking. You can also use all-purpose cream as an alternative ingredient. Add garlic powder, and Lady’s Choice Mayonnaise. to make the sauce even better and creamier.
Season with ground black pepper and salt. If you want a thicker sauce, cook it longer until it is reduced to your desired consistency. Lengua can enjoy almost any side dish. I prefer it to Paella.
